Guide to the Best RC Vehicles
The world of radio controlled cars, trucks and other vehicles can be a very exciting place, but it can often be difficult for the newcomer to know where to start. There are so many choices that must be made, like ready to run or kit, off road or on road, car or truck, nitro or electric, that it can become somewhat overwhelming.
Choosing the right vehicle
Perhaps the most important consideration is which vehicle style to choose. There are RC replicas of virtually every make and model of vehicle, from the Ferrari to the Hummer. If you have a favorite type of car or truck, looking for a ready to run vehicle of that model may be a good way to start.
On road or off road?
If you choose a Hummer, monster truck or other rugged vehicle, chances are it will be designed with off road use in mind. Going off road can be a lot of fun, and these rugged off road vehicles can provide a great deal of fun, and RC enthusiasts can customize their own outdoor racetrack with jumps, ramps, mud puddles, boulders and an array of other obstacles to make the race more fun and more challenging.
Ready to Run (RTR) or Kit?
Radio controlled cars and trucks come in two basic styles, ready to run, or RTR, and build kits. A ready to run radio controlled vehicle is just what the name implies – it is ready to run straight out of the box. In most cases all the buyer will need to do is remove the vehicle from the box and put it on the track.
The build kit, on the other hand, takes a bit more dedication and hard work. The kit will contain a number of parts, which must be assembled into the completed vehicle. In most cases the buyer will need to supply his or her own radio and often a battery pack as well. In most cases, therefore, the ready to run vehicle will be the best choice for the beginner in the hobby.
