What You Need to Keep in Your RC Tool Kit
Just as you need to keep a well equipped tool kit in your own personal car, it is important to keep a well equipped tool kit for your RC cars and trucks as well. Whether you are out with friends at the local RC racetrack, offroading in the mountains or racing in serious competition, it is important to keep some common tools on hand in order to keep your RC cars and trucks running their best. Listed below are some of the things you need to keep in your radio controlled vehicle tool kit.
An RC Tool Kit
There are specialized tools that have been designed to keep RC cars and trucks running their best. Among the recommended additions to the RC tool kit are:
Magnetic balancer – the magnetic balancer will help to reduce wear and tear on the RC car or truck by making sure that the rotating parts are in balance. The magnetic balancer is the perfect tool for balancing the tires on a ready to run RC vehicle.
Gear puller – The gear puller is important in order to avoid striping the set screws.
Temperature gauge – Just as with a real car, it is important to monitor the engine temperature of your RC vehicle. The temperature gauge helps you measure performance while avoiding wear and premature engine failure.
Tool pouch – A tool pouch is a great way to keep all your tools organized and in one place.
Glow plug wrench – a glow plug wrench is essential and it makes the task of changing those plugs a lot faster and easier.
Glow Plugs
It is always a good idea to keep some extra glow plugs around. It would be no fun to have to cut your driving or racing time short due to a failed glow plug. Even new out of the box glow plugs can sometimes be faulty, so it is important to keep an extra supply on hand just in case.
It is a good idea to buy a glow plug kit which includes a glow plug igniter, glow plug wrench and glow plug igniter in addition to the spare glow plugs. This kit should be all you need to make a quick change even in the heat of completion.
